A size guide is always worth checking before buying outerwear for your children. We all know how hard it is to decide on what size to buy for our kids. We want them to last as long as possible but don’t want them to look too big.

Our products are designed to fit your child’s age/height; however, we know all children are different shapes and sizes. We have found that majority of UK parents are buying two sizes above their child’s age. This is usually from your standard supermarket or high street store.

To help you get your purchase right the first time. We have some handy measurements that will allow you to choose the perfect size for your child.

The Scarecrow Measurement

Also known as the cuff-to-cuff measurement. This measurement requires your little one to stand like a scarecrow, with their arms out either side of them. You then measure from the fingertips of their one hand, to the other hand.

SIZE GUIDE JACKETS

This measurement will help you to find the perfect size jacket, that will also allow for growth.

When your child does a scarecrow pose you want to see their fingertips JUST peeking out of their jacket.

To choose the correct size measure from fingertip to fingertip….

This will ensure the jacket has PLENTY of growing room but will not look like it is too big for them. The Velcro on the cuff will allow you to bunch up the sleeve to allow for growth without the jacket looking ridiculously big.

When the sleeve just reaches their wrist when their arms are down by their sides it will still fit but you know it is time to think about going up a size.

The Snail Measurement

This measurement is perfect for ensuring your child has plenty of room for growth and play. All children often crouch down whilst outside. Whether it's to pick up little treasures in natures; such as stones and stick. Or too take a closer look at little critters. Your little one will always need room to bend, squat and crouch.

This is a nice measurement to do when your child is asleep or when they crouch.

The snail measurement is from the nape or the neck and down their back.

Taking this measurement and comparing it to our back measurement will help you see how much room they will have in the body.

Inside Leg Measurement

This is a measurement we always recommend when it comes to Dungarees, Trousers and the All in Ones. It is super simple to do, all you need to do is measure from the crutch area down to the ankle. Alternatively a great tip to find this measurement easily, is to find a pair of trouser that currently fit your little one. Then lay them flat and measure the inside leg. This will give you the size of an inside leg that fit your child.

It is worth keeping in mind that with outerwear, such as dungarees/trousers. You are able to allow for growth and scrunching in the leg.

You want the inside leg to allow enough room for them to bend and play. But you do not want the legs of the dungarees/trouser to be too long as this can cause damage to the outerwear.

The Inside measurements applies to both unlined and fleece lined outerwear.

When your child wears wellies, you are able to scrunch up the dungarees/trousers or all in one slightly. Then as your child grows, and if they start to ride up the leg. There are underfoot straps which go underneath the gap of a wellington or boot. This prevents the dungaree/trousers from riding up the leg.

Size Guide Advice

If your Waterproof Trousers, Dungarees and All In Ones are TOO BIG. This can damage the crutch area, when riding a bike.
