Shop Independent Day!

21st June 2022

On Saturday, 25th June, it is Shop Independent Day, which was started by Holly Tucker to spread the importance of voting with your money & love to support small businesses across the UK.

Here’s what Holly has to say about the campaign:

“We’re passionate about cheerleading independents all year round, but during the summertime and at Christmas we launch extra special campaigns to raise awareness of all the ways people can support small, and why it is vital to do so”

Wet Wednesdays Shop Independent

The campaign originally started in 2017, and has since had much success, including their first ever annual Independent Awards.

This year Holly Tucker worked with Rebecca Strickson to create limited edition art for Shop Independent Day, we were lucky enough to be sent one of their posters! Along with some stickers to match.

At Wet Wednesdays we are passionate about small changes as we know that they always lead to a big difference. We have proudly displayed our #CampaignShopIndependent poster & plan on taking part primarily on our social media through stories & a grid post, as well as supporting other local businesses!

Wet Wednesdays has remained Independent as this is the only way for us to keep our prices low & our quality high! This is how we were able to put The Big Price Cut in place, which is a website wide price cut on all of our products to keep them affordable for families struggling through the financial crisis in the UK.

Here is one of our latest reviews from a local mum:

“We LOVE Wet Wednesdays! Artie always sports his waterproof jacket and trousers for all outdoor adventures and always has the best time doing so. it’s so durable and still looks brand new after lots of washes! I especially love the pattern of the jacket and the peak on the hood which is such a good feature. We also always get stopped to ask where the jacket is from! I can’t wait to add more to the collection. I highly recommend.”

We encourage everyone to support independents this summer & beyond!

Some tips on how to get involved could be:

  • Purchase something or a service from a small business
  • Make the effort to leave reviews for your favourite small businesses on Facebook, Google or Trustpilot etc.
  • Like, Share and Comment on their social media posts!
  • If you have a small business of your own, help support other small businesses in the same way you would want them to support yours.

Remember you can take part in supporting by using the hashtag #CampaignShopIndependent and if you would like to support us, you can tag us or use the hashtag #WetWednesdaysFamily.
